Under Construction

Hey Friends! Today’s post is all about news, news, NEWS!

First Item of Importance: My Whole30 Challenge is over today! YAY!  A few more hours and I’ll be free and clear and headed towards the pumpkin pie –just kidding! I’ll be honest with you and admit that I’m excited that its over, but at the same time, I didn’t feel like I was counting down every second ’til the finish line this time like before. I had a few cravings right here at the end, but in general, I found myself eating WAY less than I had been, readjusting to remember what hungry actually feels like, and acknowledging that “bored” or “stressed” does not mean “hungry”. I am drinking a ton more water, I am feeling leaner, stronger, better oriented towards food, and like I am balanced. I have lost a little weight (I don’t know how much yet because I go to the gym tonight and will weigh in then!), my too-small jeans and shirts fit now, my awful acne has cleared up, and I have made a better effort to pre-plan and make good choices —  I’m recommitted to being a healthier version of myself, even if that means denying myself tempting treats!

I was thinking of 1 Corinthians 6:20-21 this week – “You were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” And also, 1 Corinthians 10:31 – “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” God created this body as a vehicle to get His work done, and I’m renewed on my mission to take the best care of it possible – diet and exercise and good health are all done to the glory of God!

Next Important Item – Thanksgiving: two more days! I love Thanksgiving because it officially kicks off the Christmas season and I LOVE Christmas: Baby Jesus, the lights, the gifts, the movies, the carols…did I mention the lights??

But another reason that I love Thanksgiving these days is because, two years ago on Thanksgiving, we announced that we were expecting our baby girl. After the road we had been on, it was an overwhelming feeling of thankfulness, and it still is one of my favorite memories – we got to share with everyone who had been praying for us and loving on us that God was faithful to hear our prayers and was sending us a blessing! We have been learning more and more about thankfulness ever since then, and my heart is overflowing this year with gratitude for all that God has done, and is doing, in my life. This time set aside on the calendar is just one more reminder to give all praise and thanks to God for all that we have, and all that He has done for us.

I will praise you, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of Your marvelous works.” – Psalm 9:1

Third Important Item: This time last year, I took a break to spend the holidays with my family and focus on creating fun crafts, enjoying the season and remembering what it is we are celebrating. I am going to do that again this year, buuuuuuuuuut…. (drumroll please!)

The blog is getting a facelift! Hooray!

When I come back in January, we will have a new name, a new look, a new platform and some new content!

I have been feeling God whisper this to me for months and have been putting it on the back burner because I keep telling myself “I’m not a blogger…”, “I don’t know all of that computer stuff…” “No one will want to read it…” “I’ll never keep up with having more content – there’s no time!

But God has been showing me more and more that He calls us to be faithful even before we know how it will turn out. Am I totally scared that I will fail publicly? Heck yes! BUT I feel like this is something that I am being told to do, and I’m done making excuses and believing the lies that are holding me back. The truth is that I am just a mom who is home mostly every day with two toddlers bouncing off the walls. I am not witty or overly confident in my writing skills. I am not extremely well-read in current events. I do not hold riveting opinions on most social issues. I may be haphazard and slightly rough around the edges. I am nervous and out of my depth – but I have a God who is in control and will take care of it, if I just step out and obey. Even as I write it, it sounds a little dramatic – “You think God is calling you to write a blog? That’s so small and silly!” Well, the truth is that if I can’t be faithful with something that seems small and silly, however can He trust me with something “big and important”?

But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you.” Acts 26:16

I am excited to see what God has in store for me, for this blog, and for you as we grow together – He will take what little I can offer and do wonderful things with it; we have seen that in His Word time and time again.  I can’t thank you enough for sticking with me for the past year! (Every time I get a new follower, I run and tell my husband and can’t believe it – It’s so exciting and humbling all at the same time!)

I’m so excited to share my new blog with you in 2019 and can’t wait for you to see it – come back and visit me in January! In the meantime, leave me a comment with things that are on your mind that you’d like to talk about.

Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and a very Happy and Healthy New Year to you all – God bless you and your families, and I can’t wait to be back in 2019!
