Blessings or Burdens?

There is an amazing thing that happens when I start, finish and intersperse the day with prayer – my day is filled with peace, gratitude, strength, patience and abiding joy. Life things still happen – there are a bunch of little kids here, after all 藍 – but the underlying joy and strength that change my day come only from the Lord!
.
.
On the other hand, when I get up late and rush into the day without prayer, tell Him I’m too busy to pray or read my Bible, or “yes Lord, but I just have to do ______ first…”, I end up attacking the day in my own strength and before breakfast dishes are even in the sink, my blessings have become burdens to me. The demands on my time, attention and body are quickly frustrating – the day feels lacking in purpose and I find the joy just completely sapped from me.
.
.
The difference? I am a child of God, and as a new creation, I’m not designed to do anything in my own power any longer. It is all through His spirit and power! Any good thing in or through me is Christ in me – I am a fool to not come before Him morning, noon and night to ask for that power in me to do what He has asked me to do!
.
.
I can do ALL THINGS through CHRIST who strengthens me! (Philippians 4:13)
